Well done to everyone- some interesting facts and different ways of presenting information.
We had the final presentations of our European projects this afternoon. Well done to everyone- some interesting facts and different ways of presenting information.

Yesterday morning our science was all about friction and its effect on different things. You can feel the effect of friction when you rub your hands together and they warm up. Next we measured the force needed to pull a shoe along different surfaces- it varied depending on how much friction there was. The grippiest the surface the more friction and force required to pull the shoe along. We also tested 4 shoes to see which had the best grip by putting them on a table, tilting it up and seeing which slipped first. This afternoon we made our own forcemeters using a clipboard, paper clips and springs. We calibrated the meter by hanging a plastic bag with 100g weights in off the spring and marking each Newton on paper. Then we used our forcemeters to measure a variety of objects. This week we are having a week of science, learning all about forces. This morning we learnt about gravity and how it makes objects fall to earth. If we drop a small and large object simultaneously they will both land on the floor at the same time. After break we used weighing scales to measure the mass of different objects then used a forcemeter to measure, in newtons, the force of gravity acting on the objects. 1 Newton is equivalent to 100g. Over the last few weeks we have been studying European Geography and have all carried out a project about a European country of our choice. We could present our information in whatever way we chose. Today we shared our projects with the class. Here are some photos of us presenting our work. Look out for the last few pictures next week. To practise our spellings this morning we played 'spelling tennis', taking it in turns with a partner to say the letters to spell our words out. It's a fun way of learning spellings! And our champion today was Jacob. Today in PE we have been doing hockey. First we worked on our dribbling skills then we had matches in small teams. |
