Yesterday was Class 12's final session with Rupert from Artworks. We looked at the models we had made last week to show our sculpture designs, then decided which to make. We chose 4 sculptures and worked in groups to create them. They were all very different to each other.

We came into class 12 this morning to find a crime scene. There'd been a murder. We spent time looking for clues as to who had been murdered and how, why, when and where? The purpose was to introduce us to 'Macbeth' which is our new literacy topic. Today's session with Rupert was all about transforming objects by covering them. First we glued strips of tissue paper to various toys and everyday objects to change the way they looked. Next we fastened some objects together then wrapped it up in fabric. We thought about different shapes and forms. Finally, we worked in groups fastening wool between 4 chairs, thinking about creating different shapes. Some of us wove wool in and out or balanced the chairs in different ways. Today was our first workshop with 'Artworks'. We spent the morning with Rupert creating and constructing sculptures. First we stacked small cardboard boxes in different ways, to create towers. We tried to balance them in interesting ways. Next we cut shapes into the boxes and placed them so you could look through them. For the next activity we had 1 piece of white card and cut shapes that would slot together to create a sculpture. Finally we went into the hall, in groups of 4 or 5, to create a '4 legged creature' using a chair and lots of cardboard boxes. Can you work out what some of them are?! This morning year 5 performed their Seahouses assembly. We all said our lines clearly and everyone had chance to see what a fantastic residential trip we had.
