This morning it was Class 12's assembly. Everyone remembered their lines and spoke loudly and clearly. We hope that everyone found it interesting and enjoyable. This afternoon we have been working hard in groups to produce information posters about different aspects of life in Tudor times. Topics include food, clothing, transport and leisure. What interesting facts can you remember from your poster?
This afternoon we have been learning orienteering skills. We learnt how to use a compass to set a bearing and walk to a marker. We also spent some time looking at a map and learning about grid references. When we got to each marker we did star jumps or jumping jacks. We had lots of fun whilst learning a new skill.
Yesterrday we enjoyed a fantastic trip to Ordsall Hall, an old Tudor mansion in Salford. We went back in time to find out all sorts of things about life in Tudor times. First we learnt how different people- Lords, ladies, merchants, farmers and servants- were treated differently at a feast. The place they sat, what they ate and drank from and the things they actually had to eat depended on their position in society. Next we were taken by a servant to find out about a Tudor kitchen and learn about life as a servant. The lady of the house showed us the chambers and talked about the beds, bath and life as a rich Tudor. Finally we dressed up in Tudor outfits and performed the 'rat dance'.
On Momday during PE, we learnt a Tudor style dance. Can you remember all the steps?!
