Last week Class 12 enjoyed a fascinating trip to Drax Power Station. We found out about how they make the electricity which is sent out to homes all over Yorkshire. Drax is a huge site so they took us in an electric-powered bus to look at the huge cooling towers, biomass storage dome and other areas. After putting on PPE (Personal protective equipment) we were able to go inside the enormous turbine hall to see the pulverising mills, boilers and turbines used to generate electricity.
