Yesterday morning our science was all about friction and its effect on different things. You can feel the effect of friction when you rub your hands together and they warm up. Next we measured the force needed to pull a shoe along different surfaces- it varied depending on how much friction there was. The grippiest the surface the more friction and force required to pull the shoe along. We also tested 4 shoes to see which had the best grip by putting them on a table, tilting it up and seeing which slipped first.
