We have been learning the Common Exception Words that we struggle with, using a variety of different methods. We loved our spelling afternoon. Do you think you have learnt to spell some more words?
This half term we have been comparing places in the UK with places in Africa. We have thought about our town Elland and a small village in Ghana. So we have used our Art project link with 'The Artworks' to enhance our learning through art. We have learnt so much about Africa and its patterns and textures. Sara and Harriet from the Artworks have helped us. First we went on a trip to Halifax to see the gallery and art studios there. Here we practised some new techniques and then the brilliant, talented ladies came to our school to deliver art lessons. We learnt techniques such as printing, mark making, weaving and many others. Year 2 worked as a team to produce our finished product, a 3D continent of Africa. It was such fun! Olly declared at the end of one our arty days 'Miss Booth, it's the best day of my life.' The children gained so much. If you would like to further develop your child with their art, check out: www.theartworks.org.uk/ or ring 01422 346900 They run clubs aimed at different ages. The teachers can guarantee they will love it! Can you give me some examples of the different sentence types that we have been learning? 2 Team Points for each sentence given.
I'll give you some examples to get you started. Statement: This is our class blog. Question: What do you enjoy doing? Command: Don't forget your punctuation. Exclamation: How fantastic your sentence is? |
