School admissions.
On this page you will find our current arrangements for admitting children into our school from the start of their Reception class year.
From time to time spaces in some year groups may become available. We currently have vacancies for children in some year groups. Please contact school to discuss your particular requirements.
Our children come from within our catchment area (see map below), and the wider area including Elland, Rastrick, Brighouse, Halifax and some from across the border in Kirklees. If you do not live within the defined catchment area and you are interested in a place for your child it is always worthwhile contacting us for more information.
Dates for September 2024 school entry
| 17 November 2023 | Admission to Primary School 2024 round opens |
| 8 November 2023 6.15pm to 8pm | Old Earth Open Evening |
| 15 January 2024 | Closing date. All applications to be submitted to the Local Authority by this date and any supplementary information forms to be submitted to the appropriate school by this date. |
| 16 April 2024 | National Offer Day. Parents/carers will be notified of their allocation. |
| 30 April 2024 | Last day to request reallocation |
| 14 May 2024 | Parents/ carers to be notified of outcome of reallocation. |
| June / July 2024 | Appeals will take place |
Key information
Admissions policy 2025.
Admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.
Our Admissions Policy will be 7 years old by September 2025, and we have recently completed a consultation on making some minor changes. Our admissions criteria and oversubscription criteria will remain the same as our current policy.
Starting Nursery
Our admissions arrangements for Little Earth Day Nursery (2 and 3 year olds) and School Nursery (3 years olds) are slightly different. You do not need to live locally to gain a place in these settings and we welcome enquiries from anyone who is interested in places in these classes.
