Governance

Our Governing Board is made up of a mixture of volunteers including parents, staff and co-opted members who bring a range of skills and expertise to the table. They make sure that the school is well run and always striving to do the best for our children. As an Academy our Governors are called ‘Trustees’.

Our articles of association have been updated and approved by the Department for Education and we have a new Governance structure from September 2022 which includes a group know as the ‘Members of the Trust’.

Amanda Aspin
Chair of Governors (Board of Trustees)

Malcolm Wragg
Member of the Trust Board

“My name is Malcolm Wragg and, I have had the privilege to be involved in the Governance of this outstanding school since it opened in 1972.”

  • “I was a Secondary School Teacher and also serving as a local councillor in 1972, when the school was built. I was invited to become a member of the Board of Managers and have been involved ever since in the capacity of Governor, Chair, Vice-Chair, and now a Member.

I have been fortunate to be able to participate in the growth from being a small school with 203 children, 7 staff in 7 classrooms – to the very modern forward- thinking school of twice the size with outstanding facilities.

Over the years the school has fully embraced the ‘green ecology’, building a four classroom eco- extension, installing solar panels, a bio-mass boiler, and a greenhouse with allotment area to produce food for our kitchen.

As a former Physical Education Teacher, I am highly delighted in the outdoor provision of a MUGA, a running track and an all-weather football field.

However, the success and growth of the school has been achieved by an outstanding and committed staff, who have been willing to expand our extra curriculum activities in residential trips, and many activities out of school hours.

The school has also had outstanding leadership, each Headteacher adding their own individual stamp in promoting the ethos that is “Old Earth”.

We celebrate our 50yrs anniversary of the school this academic year. I am sure that many pupils and staff will look back with affection and pride of their time here, and will wish the school well as it looks forward to a new direction in the near future.”

At the end of the last academic year I moved to become a Member of the Trust. I am proud and pleased to remain part of the Old Earth family and wish all of our current and future pupils and their families the very best and know they will enjoy their time in our wonderful school.
