School admissions.
On this page you will find our current arrangements for admitting children into our school from the start of their Reception class year.
From time to time spaces in some year groups may become available. We currently have vacancies for children in some year groups. Please contact school to discuss your particular requirements.
Our children come from within our catchment area (see map below), and the wider area including Elland, Rastrick, Brighouse, Halifax and some from across the border in Kirklees. If you do not live within the defined catchment area and you are interested in a place for your child it is always worthwhile contacting us for more information.
Dates for September 2027 school entry
4 November 2026Old Earth Open Evening (6:30pm to 8:00pm)
18 November 2026Admission to Primary School 2027 round opens
15 January 2027 Closing date.
All applications to be submitted to the Local Authority by this date, along with supplementary forms to relevant schools.
16 April 2027National Offer Day. Parents/carers will be notified of their school place allocation.
30 April 2027 Last day to request reallocation (initial round deadline).
14 May 2027 Parents/carers notified of the outcome of reallocation.
June / July 2027Appeals take place
Key information
Admissions policy 2027.
Admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.
Our Admissions Policy was 7 years old by September 2025, and we completed a consultation on making some minor changes in 2024. Our admissions criteria and oversubscription criteria for September 2026 will remain the same as the previous policy and the existing policy used for September 2025 admissions.
Starting Nursery
Our admissions arrangements for Little Earth Day Nursery (2 and 3 year olds) and School Nursery (3 years olds) are slightly different. You do not need to live locally to gain a place in these settings and we welcome enquiries from anyone who is interested in places in these classes.
