Old Earth School is a wonderful school which has a proud history, serving the community since 1972. As one of the first convertor academy schools, Old Earth has successfully navigated the changing educational landscape to undertake substantial improvements to the learning environment as well as taking an innovative approach to developing teaching and learning to the highest standard for all our children. This continues to have a tremendous impact on standards, attainment but, just as importantly, pupil engagement and excitement in learning.
‘Family’ is the word that most parents/carers, staff and Governors use to describe our school. Generations of our families have attended this school and are very proud of their connections. Our children are truly special, enthusiastic, caring and passionate about their school. They constantly tell us that they love coming to school every day.
Our staff work hard, nurture our children and create an environment which is enjoyable to work in. They are committed to ensuring every child makes great progress and they enjoy every school day. Our parents and carers are incredibly supportive and appreciative of the work of the school and continue to be partners in our development. Our Governing Board are an incredible group of people. They give us all 100% commitment and support. They are extremely ambitious for the children we teach and for the future of Old Earth.
We are fortunate to be part of the Elland Schools cluster and work effectively with all local schools including Local Authority schools, Church schools and other Academies.
In addition to this we have links with schools in Sri Lanka. Our children have shared work with our friends abroad and our teachers and staff have had opportunities to visit and teach in these amazing schools.
I am delighted to be part of the team here and I am proud to be only the fourth Headteacher in the history of the school. I guarantee that if you and your child join us you will quickly feel part of the family and have Old Earth in your hearts forever.
